Promoting Motives In Local Salons For Expansion

These past few months I've been doing events in salons to get the attention of salon owners and test market to their clients. They all love the Motives by Loren Ridinger collection but sadly some don't seem to understand the leverage they can get by partnering with us. Most beauty industry brands simply sell product at discount and a few even give a kickback for high inventory sold so I hear, but our company is slightly different in an innovative kind of way. This is something business owners and entrepreneurs need to understand and doing a demonstration on site is just a way to showcase the private label brands until they see the marketing plan of income potential behind it.

Specifically I have done demos, also known as "Day of Beauty" events, for several salons and wellness spas across Long Island. Some of the towns I've been to are Hempstead, Commack, Centereach and Patchogue. They have been in the medium price range of salons catering to average income clients. I look forward to getting into the upscale locations but find that a challenge on my own right now. My colleagues work during the day and that's when approaching the salon owner is best done and we're trained not to go alone until your well skilled. With as much experience as I've already have I still get very nervous to walk in their door because I'm shy. I believe that after I get two or three sponsored salons under my belt then it won't be an issue.

Half of the demos I did so far this year sold some product, mostly custom blend foundations, while others were more informational presentations, it's nice to know that some of those salons eventually partnered with our company. One partner went so far as to have a painting done (see below) of a catalog glamour pic with the brand logo! I'll tell you one thing that I've noticed is that the people who understand the power behind the Motives brand find it a great way to present something unique yet affordable and high quality to their clients, and can simultaneously develop a significant secondary income without having to reinvent the wheel.

The new workshop will be available soon with support info and tools for helping us illustrate how Motives can jumpstart a salon's income and create synergy among the staff. Most of the trainings are also available in Spanish now and it makes me wish I learned the language since the Latin market is very big on trendy beauty products. I think I could walk thru it with an interpreter when the need arises, thankfully makeup speaks for itself and the training is very hands on.

I've placed a few ads for new potential salons and will work the towns around me with our new tools to book events and/or appointments to show the business plan if they are willing to sit down right away. I know salon and spa owners don't have much down time so I would much rather "show them the money" and test market the line with a demo afterward. When I book an event 3 or 4 weeks in advance that gives us sufficient time to promote it in the salon to clients and amongst our team to make it successful and show the demand for quality product from their clientele and consultations. And I haven't even touch on how beneficial this line is for makeup artists in this post!! See previous entries for details on that.
