The Dave Ramsey Town Hall Meeting Was Way Better Than Obama's Version
Last night Dave hosted a Town Hall for Hope webcast at a local church that was held at over 6,000 locations across the nation, mostly churches since his FPU is only held at churches & is not a big money maker seminar thing that upsells you on all these endless promises of getting it together. There's only one other session where you'd actually go to Tennessee where he is & see him speak with an intensive version of FPU & his Total Money Makeover. It was nice to only have to drive 5 minutes across town instead of 20 minutes on the LIE to get out to Nesconset for the course last year.
I attended the Financial Peace University (FPU) course last year with my husband & even graduated by making it to ten or eleven of the thirteen sessions. We missed the opening class but have the audios so I heard it and would still like to retake the class just to learn it better in the group setting. Dave Ramsey's program is something that should truly be taught to all Americans because he helps you prioritize your financial life in such a way that you are prepared for the unexpected & retirement years. Unfortunately, I haven't made much progress on our finances since I've been neglecting these duties.
Nervously I introduced myself to the organizer, who didn't introduce himself as a pastor, nevertheless I was feeling bold & expressed interest in his next course which he said will probably be in September. Since it's 13 sessions long attending classes into summer ends up with no-shows due to other obligations or family events that happen so it's usually a winter-spring or fall-winter thing. I had gone on Sundays which was an issue but this church does them mid-week.
Hope I didn't come across as pushy, I meant to be informative but I mentioned that I have a local repair shop that sells a lot of low priced used cars & would help any of the FPU members find an affordable & reliable vehicle if anyone needs it. The FPU course recommends that you downsize while getting out of debt & avoid what you cannot afford so used cars is a big thing with Dave's priorities for financial freedom.
The church has a website & I'll send a follow up note to get on their list for next time. I was also holding myself back from talking about doing makeup for brides with our complimentary consults, which would be helpful for them since bridal trial makeup sessions can run about $50 just for the demo. Actually there's a woman that I must call back for her daughter's wedding, I didn't have all the makeup so I procrastinated because of my embarassment at not having it yet. Guess I can say that I have 3/4's of the new line now. Still have to stock up on the rest of the lipsticks & liners. Motives by Loren Ridinger Cosmetics is still coming out with more new stuff too, like Lustrafy is in Dark Chocolate & a waterproof formula plus still to come are a new line of Full Color lip gloss & Invisi-Line for wrinkle smoothing under makeup. Must be a quick fix product.
