Winter Skincare & Makeup Tips

Here's a list of common cold weather skincare questions and concerns that we have solutions for:

Problem: My skin breaks out and feels itchy? Maybe you've got a cosmetic breeding ground for germs?

-Time to clean all makeup brushes, including makeup cases/drawers with a mild soap and a drop of SNAP disinfectant to keep your supplies and tools clean
-Discard any worn brushes & applicators; invest in quality brushes for longevity...see the Motives Brush Collection and ask for brush cleaning demo from your consultant
-Toss any old or unused products, date opened products and clean again every season change, at least

Problem: Dry skin from in-door heat and chilly outdoor weather?
-Change your skincare regimen to a more moisture preserving one with rich emollients like Timeless Rx Face Firming Cream, not recommended for oily skin, instead try Skintelligence Alpha 24 or the VitaShield kit
-Now is the time to try new products to protect skin from harsh cold air or restock old favorites
-Discard old moisturizers and creams that have separated or discolored or just don't work for your skin; use VitaShield Vitamin C & E Moisturizer and Treatment with salicylic acid to avoid acne breakouts while moisturizing
-Start using a weekly peel with Alpha & Beta Hydroxy Acids to renew and thicken skin & bathe with Royal Spa Bath & Body Gel with golden Vitamin A & E moisturizing beads

Problem: TLC for winter skin sun damage.
-Use a product in your daily application that has an SPF of at least 30 for UVA & UVB rays which can be a Motives Custom Blend Foundation with 30SPF additive, sun glare is strong and still can give you a burn; soothe & heal with Timeless Rx After Sun Repair gel

Problem: Teary eyes from cold air makes raccoon eye?
-Go for Motives Waterproof Mascara and avoid applying on lower lashes, remove it with Motives Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover, don't rub and irritate your eyes, let the remover soften the product then gently wipe away
-When using eyeliner go for Indelible (waterproof) pencils and set with a eyeshadow of similar color

Problem: Dry chapped lip syndrome.
-Upgrade your lip balm to retain moisture to Vitamin C Lip Treatment with Aloe
-Clean lips with the gentle Motives Exfoliating Lip Treatment to remove dead skin regularly with a swab then seal in moisture with a balm or gloss

Problem: Winter wardrobe, same old makeup colors?
-Add to your collection with the latest Trend Palette
-Try richer earth and jewel tones with a shimmer on the eyelid at night for a sensational deeper look
-Get a lipstick in a vibrant trendy color like the versatile Red My Lips (can appear Red, Fuschia, Brick, Pink, or even a Pink-Brown tone) with natural toned eye makeup

Problem: Makeup fades, flakes or dries up.
-Use Motives Indelible Eye and Lip liners for a more creamy application and try an Eye Base before applying eyeshadow from Motives for better staying power and Lip Primer under your lipcolor for extended wear
-Apply moisture retaining antioxidant enriched Primer under foundation to extend product wear while protecting  and nourishing your skin, helps tighten pores too

Problem: Rough heels from boots?
-Try a Skintelligence Masque treatment to increase circulation and soften feet then rub in a rich cream at night like Smooth As Silk Hydrating Lotion or Alpha 24 and cover up with thick warm socks; gently buff off dead skin in the shower the next day

Problem: Hand lotion stings and hands are dry and cracked?
-Treat hands & elbows to lotion with rich emollients like aloe, glycerin and allantoin, also MDI Complex can reduce inflammation and redness, all found in Timeless Hand & Body Treatment
-Apply a layer of ClearShield that contains Aloe for constant outdoor exposure everyday as an invisible barrier of protection against the elements that won't wash off

Now you know how to soothe & protect skin so you can enjoy more winter fun!
